Linking T100MD888+ or T100MD1616+ to the Internet Download this page as a PDF Document T100MD1616+ is internet-ready!! You can create your very own Internet Appliance just by using a T100MD1616+ and a PC. This incredible little PLC can instantaneously upgrade your entire manufacturing capability to meet all future challenges when you can link any of your machines or manufacturing process to the internet or your corporate intranet. This can be done right from the beginning or any time later when you are ready to do so. This means that you can automatically collect manufacturing data, view your process or production status on-line using any browser (Netscape or IE4 which supports JAVA applet) from literally anywhere in the world! The internet capability is licensed from none other than the leader in Internetworking technology for embedded controller : emWare Inc of the USA (http://www.emware.com). emWare Inc produces a suite of software modules known as EMIT™ (Embedded Micro Interface Technology) which allows any EMIT-enabled device to be easily linked to the internet, via its trademarked emGateway which can run on any networked PCs running Windows 95/98 or NT. The low cost desktop PC or your home PC is quietly turned into an internet traffic messenger which manages incoming TCP/IP requests from the internet/intranet and communicate with the T100MD1616+ via its RS232 or RS485 port. Two-way communication is possible which means you can either remotely read data from or write data to the PLC. The communication protocols is handled by a software module known as "emMicro" which has been incorporated into the T100MD1616+ PLC under license from emWare Inc. Using the T100MD1616+ with EMIT3.0 is much easier than with other embedded controller board. This is because you don't have to worry about the nitty-gritty and technical challenge of integrating the emMicro codes (which are supplied in assembly language or C) with an embedded controller. All the tricky firmware integration works have already been completed by our R&D department and you just use the predefined arrays of variables to interface with the emGateway. T100MD1616+ , together with TRiLOGI version 4.1 supports the following variables:
You can select the variables to be "exposed" to emGateway so that you can exercise a certain degree of control of what are allowed to be viewed and what are allowed to be changed by an internet client. Using T100MD1616+ with EMIT3.0 If you like to try out the EMIT3.0 with the T100MD1616+, you can download a free EMITlite from emWare's website which allows you to install a local host version of emGateway on your PC. You can then install the sample Java program and use a Netscape 4 browser to control/monitor activitiy on your T100MD1616+ PLC. The following is an image of the sample Java applet we have created to demonstrate the use of T100MD1616+ on the internet: You can monitor the digital inputs, control the two PWM channels and 1 D/A output, read 2 analog input values and record a time chart for the values of the analog data. Once you are ready to get your device onto the internet you can purchase a licensed copy of emGateway software from emWare Inc for your production use.
